Does any of this sound familiar?
- Your dachsie is over 8 and is getting stiffer or slowing down
- They hesitate with stairs, sofas, or jumping
- Walks are shorter because they tire easily or seem sore afterward
- You worry about joint issues and painful flare‑ups as they get older
- You want to help them stay strong, but you’re not sure what’s actually safe
Guess what? You're not alone in noticing the changes
There’s a moment in every dachsie’s life when you begin to notice the small shifts.
They rise a little slower in the morning.
Their happy trot becomes a more thoughtful walk.
They hesitate before stepping off a curb or turning too quickly.
These changes are subtle at first. You might notice them but not be saying them out loud yet. But they tell a very real story: your senior dachsie’s body is beginning to ask for help.
Senior dogs don’t lose their love of movement.
They lose the physical capacity to move the way they once did.
Age‑related muscle loss slowly reduces their strength. Their joints become stiffer, their cardiovascular system less efficient, and their recovery time longer than it used to be.
These changes aren’t signs that they should stop moving.
They’re signs that they need to move differently.
This is where thoughtful conditioning becomes one of the most powerful gifts we can offer an older dachsie.
Research into senior and geriatric dogs consistently shows that moderate, low‑impact exercise can improve mobility and reduce pain without overloading ageing joints. Exercise modification and physical therapy are key to easing pain and improving quality of life in osteoarthritic dogs. We also know that obesity, muscle loss, and a sedentary lifestyle form a “trifecta” of age‑related risk in both people and dogs.
For normal functioning, basic elements such as strength, balance, and energy must be present. That makes targeted strengthening work essential, not optional.
What makes conditioning so valuable is that it meets the senior dachsie exactly where they are:
- Their endurance is lower, so sessions become shorter and more frequent
- Their recovery is slower, so rest is woven intentionally between moments of effort
- Their joints are more vulnerable, so the focus shifts to gentle strength, smooth mobility, and joint‑friendly movement patterns
Too much rest leads to stiffness and decline.
Too much intensity leads to discomfort and potentially pain.
Conditioning helps us find the balance that ageing bodies crave.
And this is exactly what we focus on inside Senior Strength for Dachshunds: helping your senior dachsie move in ways that keep them safer, stronger, and more comfortable for as long as possible.
Imagine if your senior dachsie could..
Move more freely and confidently, instead of shuffling and hesitating
Wake up less stiff and recover faster after gentle activity
Enjoy walks, play, and everyday life with less discomfort
Have joints that feel supported, not overloaded
Stay connected to you and to the world in a body that still feels capable
That’s what smart, gentle conditioning can help you create for them.
Introducing
Senior Strength for Dachshunds
Senior Strength for Dachshunds is a guided strength and mobility program created specifically for dachsies over 8 years old.
You’ll follow a clear, vet‑friendly plan of simple exercises and routines that help your senior dachsie stay stronger, more stable, and more comfortable as they age. Sessions are short, gentle, and designed to fit into real life, even if you’re busy.
This is the same approach I’ve used with my own senior dachsie, Mabel, since her diagnosis at 7. Two years later, her follow‑up X‑rays showed surprisingly little progression, and my vet’s words were: “Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.”
As a waitlist member, you’re invited to join this first round for just £119.40 instead of the regular £199.
Give your senior dachsie a clear, safe plan instead of guessing
This course is in honour of Mabel
Senior Strength for Dachshunds exists because of one very special dachsie: my oldest girl, Mabel.
Mabel is almost 11 years old and lives with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. When she was 7, I’d noticed the changes – the slower, stiffer mornings, dog reactivity (despite a lot of training), and a consistent hindlimb hop, that I had been told to ignore, but couldn't. I knew she still loved to move, but her body was starting to struggle.
This is when it was confirmed she had hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis and conditioning was the cornerstone to changing everything.
Over the next two years, I focused on building her strength safely, supporting her joints, and adjusting her exercise as she aged. When she was X‑rayed again at 9 years old, my vet was shocked at how little change there was in her joint issues.
His exact words were: “Whatever you are doing, KEEP doing it.”
Everything I’ve done for Mabel since that first diagnosis is what you’ll find inside this course. As she approaches 11, she’ll be due another set of X‑rays to check for any progression. My goal is the same as yours: to give a much‑loved senior dachsie the best quality of life for as long as possible.
Senior Strength for Dachshunds is my way of giving other senior dachsies the same second chance Mabel received – a chance to stay stronger, more comfortable, and more connected to the world for as long as possible.

Don't just take it from me...
What other dachshund owners saying:
I have three somewhat old Dachshunds that came from different homes and backgrounds. As a personal trainer I always thought about what sort of exercises I could have my dogs do but didn't really have any epiphanies until I saw Mabel and Myrtle on my Instagram feed. The course was excellent and I gained a ton of insight into how to help my dogs live out their golden years by being super fit.
Oreo was diagnosed with IVDD last year. Although he recovered enough to walk on his own, I could still see how difficult it was for him at times. Oreo is stronger, more stable, and most importantly, happier. Those training sessions are more like playtime for him.
My mum hadn’t seen Millie since starting the course and immediately noticed how much stronger and happier she looked — she’s even stopped “bunny hopping” on walks!
We’re still beginners and have a lot to learn, but thanks to Lucy, we’re able to practise from home, improve little by little, and benefit from her professional expertise.

If within the first 14 days you feel this course isn’t the right fit for you and your dachsie, email me and I’ll refund your enrolment (as long as no more than 50% of the course has been completed).
Give Your Senior Dachsie Their Second Chance
Your senior dachsie doesn’t have to simply “get old and slow down.” With the right kind of conditioning, you can help them stay stronger, more comfortable, and more connected to the world in their later years.
Senior Strength for Dachshunds is everything I’ve done to keep Mabel moving as comfortably as possible with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis. If it can help her stay active into her later years, it can help your senior dachsie too.
